Garner was also executive producer and host of a well-received UNC-TV series, Carolina Countryside, celebrating North Carolina rural life, has been a featured speaker at the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party in New York and the Southern Foodway Alliance’s annual symposium in Oxford, Mississippi, and he speaks frequently to a wide variety of audiences across North Carolina. He is an accomplished barbecue pitmaster and has published his personal recipes for many traditional southern dishes.
